Nice review of THE KILL FLOOR from James L'Etoile, award-winning author of Dead Drop, Black Label, and the Detective Pensley series: "What a rush! The Kill Floor starts hot and doesn't let up. Great characters and devious plotting will keep you reading the latest from John Desjarlais well into the night. A peek into the farming industry where the murder of the most hated man in town puts everyone in the suspect pool. I may never look at bacon the same way again. Highly recommended!"

The Rockford Review Summer/Fall 2022 issue published 2 of my poems: The Stalled Novel and The Lottery No One Wanted to Win

Kakalak 2022, an annual contest hosted by Moonshine Press of North Carolina, accepted my poem Our Fathers' War. The anthology is published in September.

The Rockford Review accepted two of my poems for the Summer/Fall edition: "Police Report" and "In the Mirror I See the Ancestors I Carry."

"Kill Floor" landed a Kindle Monthly Deal and will be available for just 99 cents during June 2023.

I'll be at The Brandy Bar in Hendersonville, NC, May 10, 7 pm, for a poetry reading with others published in the 2022 edition of "Kakalak", a distinguished NC journal.

"Bold Life," a regional arts magazine, profiled me in the March/April 2023 issue, here: https://www.boldlife.com/make-mine-hardboiled-populist-undertone-distinguishes-local-authors-crime-fiction/.

I won Second Prize for "My Skeleton Speaks" in the Kathryn Kennedy McIntyre Light Verse category of the 2023 PineSong Anthology published by The North Carolina Poetry Society.

I've completed a draft of a YA metaphysical fantasy. "All Times Are Now" (working title) is in the tradition of Madeleine L'Engle's "A Wrinkle in Time" with the possible-worlds vibe of "The Midnight Library" or "Before I Fall." It's with Beta readers now. The goal is to revise this summer and submit to small houses in Fall.
